Your final product should include a good balance of multimedia (picture, video, links) demonstrating your understanding of the musical concepts covered in Chapter 11. It will be a post (or if you prefer a series of posts) titled “Some Musical Devices”. Your project can be (but not limited to):

1) A podcast
2) A screen-cast
3) A photo collage
4) A word cloud
5) A short film
other ideas…

Key Concepts:

1) Decoration
2) Ornaments
3) Sequence (raising and falling)
4) Imitation (strict and free)
5) Voice-exchange.

 

Resources:

Music class youtube channel: A concert performance in school might be on video! if not look for the subscribers of the channel and playlists that the channel might have. There’s clues there.

Padlet: A multimedia tool kit to display information creatively.

Musescore: Notation online tool. You can embed the scores you make. Program that needs downloading but it’s pretty good.

Noteflight: Like Musescore but all online. Good thing about it is you can embed. Look!

Wordle: Make worldclouds! great for displaying information.

Explaineverything: Animate your thinking!

Screencasts: Another highly effective way of showing your understanding and demonstrating skills.

Camtasia: Like screencast. Haven’t tried this one yet. Let me know what you think if you do.

 Day 1: Listen and follow the guidelines of all the listening examples in CH 11. There are 5 in total. (Linked listening optional but very useful). How could you express your understanding? record your ideas.

Day 2: Go through the links. What do you like? play around with the different tools, which one do you like?

Day 3: Complete the performances of CH 11 and follow their guidelines. There are 4 short extracts to perform. Film yourself.
Day 4: Which of the tools do you think you will be using? design how you are going to layout the task.
Day 5: Try one of the composing guidelines in CH 11. there are 4 to choose from. Use one of the notation software in the links provided. Capture your process using a screencast.
Day 6: Gather all the material that you have created and put it together.
Day 7: check your work. have someone look at it. Check what others have done.
